First attempt

It is time once again. I believe it is Jan's fault. Now I feel the need to participate in these photo challenges. Why? I ask myself this; because it is yet another challenge. Here is my first attempt.
The picture above is what is left of the house where my grandmother was raised and lived until she got married and left for America. The house is in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Today, the land is till owned by relatives of mine. The old house is surrounded by apple orchards as far as the eye can see and the largest greenhouses I have ever seen. I touched the walls of the house. I cried when I was there. It was an emotional tie to my past. My guess is that the house is at least 150 years old.

  1. Hi Leslie :)

Welcome to the Round Robins, my name is Carly. It's good to have you join us for our current challenge. Well done. I have been seeing so many beautiful and interesting places today, and now a peek at Ireland. I like seeing all these wonderful places very much, I just wish I could see them in person. :) Maybe one day. Anyway, welcome once again, I hope you will join us for future challenges.

    Always, Carly

  3. Thank you for the lovely welcome. I have enjoyed this challenge and will try to join in as often as possible. I will check out your other site and join if possible as well.

Loved to see your ancestral home. I have always had a love of all things Irish. I have several friends that have family there and one who was born there and recently retired and returned to live in a house that has been in her family for centuries. Great stuff. Very interesting.

Sorry I deleted and re-posted. I did a poor proof job. I have a sticky keyboard and missed a major error.

  4. Oh my goodness. First I am so glad that you are going to be doing the challenges. How fun! I think you have caught the blog bug. Now about the challenge. I love how you shared your family with us. I would have bawled like a baby if I had been able to touch the place where long ago relatives had lived. I get emotional when I go to Canada and fish where my granparents vacationed and lived.

Love the shots of the girls on the sidebar. How come all those years went by so fast? They were just babies!

  5. What a fascinating old house! Thank you for sharing it with us. I can't imagine being able to go back to a place in the old country (I think my ancestors were mostly Scandinavian) and realize that family from 150 years ago lived there. Wonderful!

  8. Welcome to the Round Robin photo challenge! What a treat it must have been to see the old house and I must say it looks facinating. I was looking at it trying to imagine the daily life.

Hope to see you around again.
